How President Obama can fatten up his approval ratings

      February 3, 2010, 7:08 pm ·

Love handles will make the American people love you, Mr. President

It comes as no shocker that most Americans aren’t happy with President Obama, but new scientific findings might reveal why that is.

The Telegraph UK reports that “Overweight male politicians are more popular.”

Voters believed that overweight male candidates were more reliable, honest, dependable and inspiring than their thinner counterparts.

If you’re listening, Mr. President, maybe a little less b-ball and a little more fast food are in order. Maybe more trips to the ice cream parlor with the girls. And more burgers with Biden at lunch. Adding a few more pounds might add a few more points to your approval ratings.

We think this survey is one of the most important ones we’ve ever read. Because it finally explains why the people of Massachusetts kept sending Teddy Kennedy and Barney Frank back to the Senate and the House year after year.

      Dogs Off The Furniture

        by IOTW Reports - January 31, 2010 - 11:18 America/Chicago -

Update: NOT The Resolute Desk, but still, dogs off the furniture, please.

Obama with his feet on the Oval Office desk made from the timbers of the HMS Resolute and gift from the UK in 1880:

      P062609PS-1256 by The White House.

      http://www.flickr.com/photos/whitehouse/4291124165/

Little known fact: The desk has been modified thrice: President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered a hinged front panel in order to hide his wheelchair, Reagan had it modded to accommodate his personal chair and Clinton had a large arc removed to enable the free movement of Monica’s bobbing head. -Assman

Pssst, Barry. That desk isn’t from Wal-Mart.

Concerned onlookers were reassured that Obama does, indeed, take good care of the desk. And moments later this was evidenced when he was seen wiping the desk down with a moistened U.S. flag.  -bigfurhat

Kaboom! Kablam! Kablooey! 13 Taliban bite the dust

It’s either 13 Taliban fighters up to no good or the weekly meeting of the Helmand, Afghanistan Rotary Club. Let’s go with the former.

While a UK Harrier lines up a shot on the first six terrorists, seven more stumble onto the scene.

Boom. Thirteen Taliban go to meet their virgins.

You Can’t Squeeze Brains from a Stone

      Posted: 12 Jan 2010 01:12 PM PST

Oh, Hollywood! Never have so many been paid so much for so little worth. Their lack of rational thought astounds even me sometimes, and I have very low expectations. In fact, I propose a new term to replace the ickier bathroom version: Stone for Brains. Oliver Stone, that is. He proves, once again, that, like money, you really can’t squeeze brains from a stone.

Director Oliver Stone’s upcoming Showtime documentary miniseries “Secret History of America” promises to put mass murderers such as Stalin and Hitler “in context.” “Stalin, Hitler, Mao, McCarthy — these people have been vilified pretty thoroughly by history,” Stone told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour in Pasadena.

Um, Oliver? The “context” is that they are evil and, you know, actual bad guys. That’s difficult for you to understand, I suspect, since you are a practitioner of moral relativism. Further, to you, there is no good or evil; everything is just “diverse cultures” and “self-expression” and such.  The right kind only, of course, not like those marauding mobs of tea party attendees what with their peaceful assembly and redress of greivances. Plus, in your delusional mind, George W. Bush is the baddest bad guy ever.

We can’t judge people as only ‘bad’ or ‘good.‘ Hitler is an easy scapegoat throughout history and its been used cheaply. He’s the product of a series of actions. It’s cause and effect … People in America don’t know the connection between WWI and WWII … I’ve been able to walk in Stalin’s shoes and Hitler’s shoes to understand their point of view. We’re going to educate our minds and liberalize them and broaden them. We want to move beyond opinions … Go into the funding of the Nazi party. How many American corporations were involved, from GM through IBM.

And there it is. There is no bad or good, huh? We can’t actually judge people by their horrific actions. Philistines! Liberalize your minds! Sorry, but I don’t wish to walk in Hitler’s shoes; if anything, I wish I could have shoved one where the sun don’t shine. Repeatedly. You want to walk in Hitler’s shoes, yet take great glee when a shoe is thrown at George W. Bush? Cognitive dissonance is fun!

They’ve stopped teaching about the Holocaust and the Crusades in some schools in the UK, waving the banner of “too controversial; it might offend some students.” You are now aiding and abetting that line of thinking. Since when is the Holocaust controversial? They now must teach their children based on a madman’s beliefs? The truth is now considered “offensive” and we must learn to embrace their differences and understand madmen? I’m confused. Maybe because I seem to have lost my English to Cuckoo Pants dictionary.

And, of course, I knew America would be at fault somehow. America and it’s pesky capitalist system made up of evil corporations (the only evil you believe in.) You’ll blame corporations, yet “walk in the shoes” of Hitler to explain away any personal responsibility.

“You cannot approach history unless you have empathy for the person you may hate,” Stone said during the show’s trailer, which promised to put historical villains “in context.”

I see you are really working that “empathy” talking point from the White House. Good boy, Oliver! Next, start bowing in supplication constantly. You may get a Czar position!

“Obviously, Rush Limbaugh is not going to like this history and, as usual, we’re going to get those kind of ignorant attacks,” said Stone, who also also compared the experience of sympathizing with war criminals to making his “W” movie about George W. Bush. “I’m trying to understand somebody I thoroughly despised.”

You just Godwinned yourself right there, Oliver, with you comparing of Bush to HITLER. Geez Louise, that has really gotten old. As for Rush, he doesn’t ignorantly attack. He does, however, GET attacked ignorantly. By the very same people who see your movies, I suspect. Congratulations!

Oliver, try “empathizing” with reality, for once.
